A Guide for Forest Biomass Harvest and Retention is a collaborative effort between the Forest
Guild and the Pinchot Institute for Conservation. These groups created a project aimed at disseminating sustainable forest management and wood harvesting guideline information with both field-based and
web-based outreach components. They wanted the web component to showcase various video presentations related to biomass retention and harvesting.
TnT Design developed a beautiful hand-illustrated website which features a custom video player built-in to the web design itself. TnT also guided aspects of the video creation and provided & mixed background music with the original narration.
Forests for the Bay is a free Chesapeake Bay watershed area program for landowners who are interested in actively conserving their woodlands or want to restore woods to their property. This site features a public side with information and news related to small, privately owned woodlands and a members-only side which provides a wealth of resources for woodland owners looking to manage their land in environmentally sound ways.
TnT Design developed an administration panel for the site administrator, providing him with a custom content management system, email alerts for new member enrollment, a utility to check the site for dead links and more.
Additionally, TnT created an Android app to complement the main site. With this tool members can capture coordinates of invasive species and, along with a brief description, upload these records, which then become associated with their previously created property maps. Subsequently, the administrator can view a member's map and virtually survey the property, its terrain, areas of invasive species and other features via a custom Google map, and he can make recommendations and/or develop a land management plan for the member without ever leaving the office!
The Maryland Association of Forest Conservancy District Boards was established to assist the state's Forest Park and Wildlife Service with the promotion of rural forest management on privately owned woodlands, restore the Chesapeake Bay, promote the stewardship and educate the general public and private forest landowners about the wide range of forest benefits.
TnT Design developed a site for the Association within a few weeks. A prominent feature of this site is an online registration piece for the NRCC, which involved transforming a 4-page pdf form into a compact online form, registration confirmation and a copy of the completed registration in pdf form sent to the registrant via email. Additionally, nominations for Maryland's Big Tree Program can now be completed online. The Association is pleased to now have this data in a centralized location for editing and reporting, as well as archival purposes.
